This weekend’s excitement will be,
of course, the proceedings of the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee in
the delightful Woodley
Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It really couldn’t be any better: The Committee said “no way” to Michigan and Florida last year. The candidates also said “no way” to Michigan and Florida. Now it turns out not only that the DNC’s
ultimatum has no teeth—no teeth at all—but
also that they’re in a jam they really can’t get out of. There’s no fair solution. The penalty only worked if Hillary had won by
a landslide, as expected. Breaking
news: No landslide!
This is the problem with ultimata—they leave no wiggle room. You mean it or you don’t. You’re turned up to 10 and rats! There’s no 11 on
your dial.
The Committee will figure something out. Half a vote? Half a delegation? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. But don’t forget, it’s about “integrity” – the first word that always comes to mind when you think “DNC.”
